CONCEPT
The Canopy of Trees is inspired by the towering silver oak and ficus trees that shelter coffee plants in Chikmagalur. These adaptable, high-reaching trees provide shade and space for growth. Similarly, the pop-up's foldable structures echo their flexibility. Retractable sections respond to environmental shifts, mirroring how the canopy adjusts to provide protection or sunlight. The structure reflects Bili Hu's commitment to preserving the purity of the coffee bean and creating an open, inviting space where consumers can explore the coffee journey from plant to cup.
The trees that provide shade to coffee plants in Chikmagalur are often taller, denser, and more mature than those in other coffee-growing regions.
FINAL IDEATION
The dome has foldable sections in the walls that retract to open up the space for larger gatherings.
We came up with this idea while observing the coffee estate in Chikmagalur and how it provides shade and shelter for the coffee plants. We wanted to replicate that essence and feeling of that space. It is an origami-inspired structure.
Bili Hu source their coffee from single coffee estates of Chikmagalur, Karnataka.Through research we established that the brand's core values and messaging can be effectively conveyed by incorporating the essence of Chikmagalur. We aimed to bring the essence of chikmagalur in our pop-up store, highlighting the connection between the region and the brand.
